The live-action film adaptation of Tatsuki Fujimoto's 'Look Back' manga has unveiled a new trailer, revealing more cast members and its September 11 opening date in Japan. The trailer showcases the film's cast, including Masaki Suda as Maeda, a Weekly Shonen Jump manga editor, and Kankurō Kudō as Tamai, a grade school teacher. Other cast members include Kayo Noro as Akari, Fujino's mother, and Ryō Ikeda as Nishi, Fujino's father. The film is directed and edited by Hirokazu Kore-eda, who is also writing the screenplay. Yūta Bandō is composing the music. The film's staff includes Senzo Ueno for photography, Masachio Nishida for lighting, and Kazuhiko Tomita for sound. The 79th Cannes International Film Festival showcased the film on May 15. The anime film adaptation of Fujimoto's 'Look Back' manga opened in theaters in Japan in June 2024, ranking at #2 in terms of ticket sales and #1 in weekend earnings. GKIDS screened the film in October 2024 in North America, earning US$688,253 at the U.S. box office in its opening weekend. The manga, which debuted on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ in July 2021, had over 2.5 million views on its first day. Viz Media published the manga in print in September 2022, describing the story as a poignant tale of growing up and moving forward.
